Species of Fishes (Moscow) The Moscow underground stars Species of Fishes became famous for being the first among the native electronic artist who attracted the eastern recording companies’ attention. In 1995 the cult Holland company StaalPlaat issued their debut album called "The Songs of Dumb World" under their own label Korm Plastic that was a unique mixture of avant-guard trance-techno, dub and ambient.
Vitaliy Stern and Igor Koliadniy together issued six albums and enclosed the entire range of contemporary styles from trance and ambient to minimal techno, jungle and easy listening. Thus, by means of the "Trip Trap" disk, issued under Exotica label in 1996 Fishes penetrated into the private area of minimal-techno, computer games and jungle. As for the "Time End Place" disk (Exotica, 1999) it was done in the genre of apocalyptic kraut-rock, that combined the traditions of Faus and Can with the new approach of post-industrial music and techno-ambient. |
